Care
In terms of care, ensure that the food bowls are cleaned daily. It is also advised that all wooden toys be cleaned once a week. Ensure it gets enough rest and sleeps well. Once it has been well educated, you can allow it to come out of the cage once or twice per day. Golden conures are friendly, gorgeous, and intellectual, making them ideal pets. Unfortunately, they are quite expensive and almost as uncommon in captivity as they are in the wild. They can be difficult to find because their sale is strictly restricted both within and outside of the United States.
A large cage is essential unless the bird will be let out for long periods of time. Many birds can spend the majority of their time on a playpen or parrot perch. They eat a range of sprouts, seeds, nuts, fruits, vegetables, and commercial pellets, as well as the nutritional meals that humans consume.
Feeding
Aside from the commercial pallets on the market, you may hand feed your golden conure with grapes, cucumbers, apples, oranges, broccoli, sweet corn, capsicum, cauliflower, yellow and red peppers, spinach, cooked pumpkin, and beans.
Feeding an equally broad diet will keep your bird healthy. It should contain fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as high-quality commercial pellets. This mixture ensures that pet conures receive proper nutrients.
Breeding a Golden Conure
They reproduce easily in captivity and are not very selective about their nesting habits; however, they exhibit significant aggression against their caretaker throughout the breeding process. Should they lose their partner, it is improbable for them to form a new couple. The female deposits a clutch of 3 to 4 eggs, which undergo an incubation period of approximately 25 days. The juvenile birds depart from the nest, known as fledging, approximately 10 weeks after hatching, although the parents continue to provide nourishment for a period following their departure.
Temperament
It is naturally curious, and when it talks, it often surprises its owner with how well it knows words. Because it likes being around people and gets bored easily, you should keep it busy with some fun activities. These birds can make very loud screams, which makes them a bad choice for people who live in flats or condos. They can, however, build up a pretty big language. Golden conures are very smart birds that need a lot of mental activity to keep them from getting bored and starting to act badly. It’s a little more sensitive than most other birds in this way.
